We kick-off the festivities with the PARADE OF ATHLETES.  Teams enter the performance floor behind their team/gym sign, dressed in uniform or warm-ups.  Some teams really take the theme and run with it by dressing in costumes!  They parade around the floor and sit as a team/gym near their sign.  Bring your camera!  It's colorful and exciting!

Then we give out the BEST SPIRIT SIGN AWARD.  This sign should be the size of a posterboard on a long stick.  Decorate it with your team/gym name, paint, glitter, streamers -- anything to make it stand out.  We also give out the BEST CREATIVE SIGN AWARD.  This goes to teams/gyms that go a little crazy and make big huge banners, 3-D signs or individual signs for each athlete.  This sign can be as creative as you can dream it!

After that, we give out a BEST SPIRIT GIFT AWARD.  Everyone who brings a spirit gift will trade with someone else who brought one!  We do the trade at the end of Opening Ceremonies.  Be creative!  It's a fun and encouraging way to start the competition.  Each athlete should carry a $1-$2 gift with them in the parade and onto the floor.  Gifts can be edible.  Be sure to include a spirit-filled good-luck note with each gift! 

We also give out a BEST COSTUME AWARD for the best costume related to our theme.

Get ready for the original SPIRIT BALL CHALLENGE!  It's a beach ball blast slamming and catching those huge spirit balls.  If the music stops and you end up with it, it's yours to keep!

Hey Creative MOMS -- Don't forget our SCRAPBOOK CONTEST!!!  Document your team/gym's year in a scrapbook and bring it to Nationals.  Leave it at Registration for judging by our owner, Regina Symons.  We'll give a prize for the best one(s) at several Award Ceremonies throughout the weekend.
